Within the amphibians, frogs and toads are categorized in the order Anura, meaning “tail-less” in Greek. Although there is no taxonomic difference, frogs can be visually distinguished from their close toad relatives by their longer legs, smooth and moist skin, narrower bodies, and higher, protruding eyes. Toads are rounder, have shorter limbs, and have dry, warty skin. Also, toads move by hopping or running along the ground, while frogs may take longer leaps.
